My wife and I used to walk to the original Leonas on Scheffield at Belmont. Loved the pasta dinners, wings, and dessert as much as the pizza. I was shocked and thrilled to see the Leonas logo on the sign on 120 in McHenry driving by last week. My wife and I dropped in today for a quick lunch and were super pleased. The flavors didn’t change, maybe even better since it’s been so long. The buffalo wings were as giant and delicious as ever, and the fried mozzarella bricks still to die for. We will be returning often!

If you are from Chicago proper and are used to REAL Pizza with great, flavorful sauce. This is the best pizza in McHenry by far. My wife and I eat here weekly. We love pizza and have eaten at every pizza place in McHenry and most of Crystal Lake. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

Food was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Our order was ready on time. We wanted to try Leona's since it's newer to the area and close to home and we were not disappointed. We will be back! We got a deep dish with sauteed garlic, mushrooms, and sausage. I LOVED it, but my husband said the garlic was too strong for him - so be weary if you're not a huge garlic fan. Got a thin crust, half pepp-mushroom-bacon, half pepp-black olive, very good. Bacon tasted different, not bad/weird, not sure if it's applewood/hickory? Loved the mozzarella sticks and buffalo chicken rolls!

The Sicilian pizza was absolutely out of this world better than I could’ve expected and absolutely perfect crunch and soft inside. The Italian sausage and onions were phenomenal and the sauce is to die for highly recommend and I’ve been to the original in Chicago on Sheffield and that’s over 40 years ago and the sauce still taste the same. Also had the mozzarella logs and they were amazing as was the marinara sauce. Get extra sauce you’ll want it. Logs are huge. Thanks Leona’s . Linda the manager checked on us a few times to ensure our dinner met our satisfaction and if we needed anything else.
Fantastic!! Deep dish pizza just like I had growing up in Chicago. Wings are great... A little sauce heavy but crispy and spot in.
We came to Leona’s Pizzeria on Sunday, May 3, 2026. The pizza here was really good, my friend and I split a 14 inch and we were still able to bring plenty home for leftovers. Pretty sure that is family owned and operated and so the workers were especially kind. As an avid pizza person, I was really excited to try this new pizza place (opened last year) and I was not disappointed. I will definitely have to come back soon. (Written 5-27-26)
